12th Symposium on Cochlear Implants in Children.
“The Intersection of Music and Spoken Language:  A Therapeutic Alliance.”

The purpose of this presentation is to describe Amy’s approach to pediatric CI users in which music intersects with communication at five critical developmental points in intervention. It is at these developmental points when the inclusion of music into CI rehabilitation appears to be most powerful in enhancing spoken language in children.

Wednesday, June 24, 2009  Bloomington, IN.
The Paul Munger Conference for Youth-Serving Professionals

From 2:00 to 5:00 pm, Amy will lead an interactive workshop for attendees.  How do youth-serving professionals maintain their energy and commitment while working in a rewarding, but often emotionally exhausting field? During this hands-on afternoon session, Amy will help participants explore answers to this question.  Using many resources, including her book, Whirlwinds and Small Voices, Amy will share her insights on spiritual renewal as a seven-day cycle of recreation, encouraging participants to find paths to their own recommitment, spiritual rejuvenation and job-life balance in their work with youth.
